Dear Arnold, Way ta' go getting ink in USA Today! You mentioned that you've already gotten mail from a dear friend telling you you're wrong. I like to think of you as a dear friend and I too think you're wrong on this one. The solutions you propose have already been in place for decades. And I'm of the opinion that that is part of what incits violence against innocent Americans. How well has this same kind of policy toward Palistinians worked for Israel? Another good example, far removed from the middle/far east is the School Of The Americas. Although there is not a thousands of years old holy war, there is oil, American military protection of the oil (and little else) and lots of very emotional appeals to do SOMEthing, anything (except for mind our own business and leave others to their own). I think Europeans and Americans ought to either get out of the middle east and So America or take on the responsibility for their decision to stay rather than depending on US military security for their private ventures. They're ticking people off and well protecting themselves from retribution or loss. Now some of those ticked off people are taking pot-shots at us, who have no say in the matter and reap little benefit. Should these particular murders be brought to justice? Absolutely, just as I said about the people who organized the attacks on 9-11. Will escalating our already hottly resented bullying of citizens of other soverign nations solve the problem? I don't think so. Two wrongs never make a right. But sometimes, when you've missed your turn, three lefts are in order. I think this is one of those times.
Sinccerely,
